Losing weight is a difficult thing to do. Getting motivated is even harder, especially when prime time television is so good and all of your videogames are so much fun. That’s why many people have turned toward losing weight with their videogame consoles. Much like the Dance Dance Revolution weight-loss fads before it, Wii weight loss is what’s on many gamers’ minds during this season of resolutions.

You can’t start working out with your Wii Fit until you have everything you need—the console, game disc, and Balance Board included. You’ll be most successful if you schedule a block of approximately 30 minutes of exercise at least three days a week. It’s helpful to work out at the same time each day you choose to exercise because Wii Fit can give you more accurate weight and BMI measurements. The game records how long you exercise and lets you know when it’s time to cool down and stop.

The exercises you can choose from vary, and it’s important to take advantage of each of them. To maximize results, it’s very important that you follow directions and complete the tutorials before you begin. If you feel dizzy or faint, please take a break (and always consult your physician before beginning any new exercise regime). But overall, don’t give up! You won’t look slimmer or tighter right away, but it will happen!

Finally, the part no one wants to hear (or read): exercising is only one part of the weight-loss equation. It’s important to eat right and pay attention to your caloric and nutritional intake, and also get plenty of sleep.
